Introduction to Moving Water

You’ve completed your Basics Course; you’ve been coming to Open Sessions; the Whitewater Theory session has you all excited about boating. Now what? It’s time to try this all out on a river. Unfortunately, we won’t let you run any waterfalls your first evening out, but we will introduce you to our good friend Eddy. We will also practice putting all your strokes to use with the water clipping along underneath your boat. You will be paired up with a more experienced paddler from the club who will show you the ropes of moving around on the river.

UAPS typically runs 2 or 3 intro evenings in late April or early May. Quesnell Bridge on the south side has proven to be a very successful spot to run this program. Plan to be on the water for 1.5 – 2 hrs.
