Open Session

Our open sessions are the backbone of our club. Once a week we all get together and paddle in Eastglen Pool or on the North Saskatchewan River (summer only). For the new club member, this is where you get to know who’s who. For the beginner, this is the perfect opportunity to practice all the skills you’ve picked up at your Basics Course or Roll Clinic. There’s almost always a more experienced paddler or coach around who is willing to spend a few minutes with you and steer you in the right direction. For the advanced paddler, this is the warmest place to play around with bow stalls and cartwheels. A fun and social time is had by all!

Please note equipment (kayak, skirt, paddle) are available for free to use at Eastglen Pool, but you must bring your own gear (or rent gear) for sessions on the North Saskatchewan River.

Open session is also where most of the club rentals happen and where weekend trips are organized. All members are encouraged to come out for a paddle. Dates and times for Open Session move around throughout the season depending on rental availability at the pool, check out the Club Calendar for the latest information.
