About UAPS

The United Albertan Paddling Society is a recreational whitewater kayaking club based out of Edmonton Alberta. With strong instructional programming for both adults and youth, UAPS has been introducing paddlers to the fun of whitewater since 1978. In 2008 UAPS parted ways with the University of Alberta and re-structured as a not-for-profit organization under the umbrella of the Alberta Whitewater Association.

Through a very busy Calendar of club trips, Courses, and activities as well as participation in numerous kayaking festivals, UAPS has opportunities for paddlers to get on the water at virtually any skill level. With our very active executive committee and supporting club members, most weekends between April and September will have opportunities for getting out and experiencing some of Alberta’s rivers. Between October and May most weeks will have at least one opportunity to get into the pool and keep your skills sharp. If you haven’t tried whitewater kayaking yet, hurry up and get on it! There are rivers for all skill levels of paddlers and with our extensive pool of club approved instructors, we have you covered! If you’re already a whitewater paddler and looking for group to paddle with, come on out to an Open Session and see if we’re the right fit for you!

UAPS is proud to create a diverse and inclusive environment. We believe that kayaking is a sport for everyone regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
