Women's Whitewater Weekend Registration Now Open!
Registration for the Women's Whitewater Weekend is now open! The festival will be a little different this year, but we’re stoked to get out on the water with you. If you are a qualified kayak leader, and interested in leading or running safety for peer led river runs at this event, please contact Elissa at firstname.lastname@example.org before registering.
The weekend will be hosted at Sunset Guiding on the Panther River (5km from Blue Bridge on the Red Deer River). This venue boasts running water, hot showers, flush toilets, plenty of firewood and is right on the Panther River, which is a fast Class II creek that feeds into the Red Deer River above Blue Bridge. We have a very large grassy field to camp in and there will be plenty of space to distance ourselves and keep each other safe.
To participate in the weekend, you must have the ability to self-rescue on a class II river. On Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday there will be peer-led river runs in groups of 10 people or less. We will have designated peers leading, but as always, you are the person primarily responsible for your own safety.
Due to Covid-19, this will be a BYO meals and beverages event. There will be no cooking facilities, so you need to come with everything you need. We will also not be providing any kayaking gear. You must bring everything you need for the weekend. You must bring masks to wear when shuttling.
There will also be post-paddle Yoga on the Saturday night with Rhonda’s RaajasaH Yoga. Please BYO yoga mat.
All whitewater enthusiasts are encouraged to participate, but at this time, the event will only be formally coordinating peer led river runs for kayaking. If you are planning to attend and not participate in the kayaking programming please indicate below e.g. canoeing. The event coordinators can potentially connect you with other participants for the weekend.
