Join us on October 4th 2025 with an end of the year paddle, then potluck back at Kate and Joel's! Bonfire is a go, as the fire ban lifted earlier this week!
We are paddling before the potluck on Saturday at the Brierlies near Rocky Mountain House. Please indicate in your registration if you are interested in attending the paddle, the potluck, or both.
We will be meeting at Blue Bridge at 1030am SHARP. If you need time to inflate rafts or wrangle children, please arrive early. Please note that the Blue Bridge put in is NOT the put in mentioned on Paddling Maps. Paddling maps describes the main wave, where the surfing and playboating happens. Our run will begin at a bridge upstream, with a float down through a few fun features before the Brierlies main wave. While the features are class I-II, there is a class I route through the river section. Here is a Google Map link to the put in location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/bkngmR2fB6RBAAsA7
Parking for the take out will be at the boat launch/alt take out, and is near washrooms. The campground is closed for the season, but we are allowed to use the path and road way to walk our gear back to the boat launch area where we are parked.
You will need to bring all your own gear for this trip, have some experience on moving water, and have a calm wet exit. Please dress appropriately, as we are in the shoulder season and the water is feeling colder.
We will take off the water around 2 pm at the campground, and the potluck will start around 5pm at Kate and Joel's home (aprox 10 minutes from Devon, near Gramania School). We will send Kate's address to those who have registered. Feel free to bring your camper and/or tent and spend the night at the acreage!
